The old guy in the rear view window

A familiar quandary -- should I get behind the big truck or change lanes? Usually I want to avoid being behind a big truck, but this time I was so near my turn off that I took a chance and did it. I noticed so many cars lining up in the next lane; they didn't want to chance it. Now I wondered, "Am I making a mistake to put myself behind this big truck? Everybody else is making a different choice. Maybe I'm wrong. . ." Then I look in the rear view mirror. I guess not everybody wants to avoid the truck; that old guy behind me must not be in a hurry.

Dum de dum. I look around then look back in my mirror at the old guy. I look harder. Oh! It's not just any old guy. It's my husband. What? MY HUSBAND IS THE OLD GUY IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR???

I'm still laughing when we meet up in the Home Depot parking lot. He laughs too.

Life.

Time.

One minute you're leaving the temple, a new bride and groom. And the next minute you're the getting-old-but-not-quite-there-yet couple with 16 grandkids.

Enjoy the journey, everybody.
